How to put together a head contractor prequalification pack without losing a week

What Cm3, Avetta, Rapid Global and a Tier 1's own questionnaire actually ask a subcontractor for, and how a register with a prequal matrix answers it in an afternoon.

Short answer: every portal asks for the same 15 to 25 documents in a slightly different order. Keep them current in a register with a matrix that maps each document to each portal, and the pack assembles itself.

What they ask for

Licences (business and individual), public liability and workers compensation certificates, WHS policy and management plan, SWMS for your trade, drug and alcohol, environmental and quality policies, training matrix with tickets per worker, plant register with inspections, incident history, insurance for plant, and evidence of subcontractor management.

The matrix

One sheet: documents down the side, portals and principals across the top, a tick where each is required and the version last uploaded. When a document renews, the matrix shows which portals need the new one.

The afternoon

The register holds the current file for each row; the pack is a folder of those files named to the portal's list, checked by you and uploaded.
