Still chasing invoices on a Friday night?

Three messages, set once: the day before it's due, three days late, and day 14. Paste them into your invoicing software and stop chasing from memory.

Fix it with three messages

1
The day before it's due“Hi [Name], a quick reminder that invoice [#] for $[amount] is due tomorrow. You can pay here: [link]. Thanks!”
2
Three days late“Hi [Name], just checking invoice [#] for $[amount] didn't get lost. It was due on [date]. Pay link: [link]. Let me know if anything's unclear.”
3
Day 14, then call“Hi [Name], invoice [#] for $[amount] is now two weeks overdue. Can you let me know when we can expect payment?” Then pick up the phone.

If your accounting software can send reminders automatically (Xero can), paste these in once and they run on every invoice. Keep reminders about the invoice only: adding offers can turn them into marketing messages under the Spam Act.

Australian small businesses waited 22.9 days on average to be paid in the June quarter of 2026, and more than half of invoices were paid late (Xero Small Business Insights, vendor data).
