Short answer: one client sheet with type, lodgement program, ASIC review date and any special dates generates the month's due list. New clients go in on engagement, not when the first deadline is missed.
What goes wrong
The deadline lives in practice software for existing clients and nowhere for the one signed last month. Lodgement programs differ by client type and agent status. ASIC annual reviews land on the company's own date. Payroll tax thresholds change.
The calendar
Per client: entity type, BAS cycle, income tax lodgement due, ASIC review date, super guarantee dates, FBT if applicable, payroll tax if applicable, and any custom dates. The Monday list: due this week, due next week, overdue. Practice software still lodges; this makes sure nothing is missing from it.
